Dust Racers Club

In December 2021, I participated to the second "Phantasy Arcade" show held by the Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles.
The idea is to make a make believe game and design the according arcade cabinet (build for the show at a 1/6 scale).
For this edition, I chose to develop a cooperative racing game, a good opportunity to design vehicles and the characters that goes with them, build a little visual storytelling.
I tried to make something cohesive and solid, with 3 very different designs. I also made a game screen in pixel art (yes, all by hand, pixel after pixel), and the game logo.

Our 3 characters with their respective vehicles.

The very first sketches to lay down the concept. It seemed to work properly so I went for it. :)

Step by step o the pixel art screen made especially for the cabinet. The challenge was to imagine and come up with the gameplay in order to put together a proper and believable User interface.

Flat colors and more dynamic versions of the cars, to dress a side of the cabinet. Also meant to be used as merchandise material. Got to anticipate those things! ^^

Square version, with simple colors. Easily readable even on a very small size.

Horizontal version of the logo.
It's always good to have 2 versions of the same logo, to ease the using
according to the material it'll be slapped on.
